Part V: Process

For my process I worked with several of my peers and instructors. I was able to receive ideas and feed back through oral and email communication. I spent a lot of time on the phone with my peers discussing options and ideas. I liked being able to bounce ideas off of people. It was a nice to have peers to share with, advise, and discuss ideas. I had friends and family proof read every page of my unit. I was able to receive many suggestions and a lot of feedback throughout my entire creating process. Below you will find my drafts and final drafts of every portion of my unit plan. I have include blurbs that describe my process.

Part I: Introduction/Narrative Overview

While creating the first part of the unit plan, I started with sections A through H. It was logical for me to start here. Once I got that section done I was able to focus on my narrative overview. My narrative overview went through the most change. I could not decide how to lay out my unit. It changes several times. I first began with an outline and then began filling it out. Below you will find a draft and and a final revision of my part 1. In the process of revising I added several more days, more detail, switched days around, and changes several activities.

Part II: Lesson Plans

Lesson Plan #1
This was the first lesson plan I completed. I used an activity from Crystal. I did not make many changes in between the drafts and the final. The majority I did between the draft and the final revision was add more detail. I believe that not the lesson reads more like a narrative. Anyone could pick up the final lesson and teach it. They could not do this with the draft.

Lesson Plan # 2
The draft of this lesson is right before I completed the entire lesson. I still had not added my references, methods of evaluations, and several objectives. I still needed to add detail and make my intentions more clear. I was unsure how to accomplish this. I asked someone who is not a teacher to read over it. They told me I needed to specifically list out what information needs to be covered in the timeline presentation. You will see that I added this idea in my final draft.

Lesson Plan # 3
This draft is very bare. I still had not put in my objectives ore closure. I was unsure how I should close this lesson. I threw around a few ideas but I could not find something that worked really well. I did not decide on something I liked till the very end of the unit!

Lesson Plan # 4
The draft here is right after I decided to have the students write a letter from a soldiers point of view instead of in response to the primary source letter. I was still unsure how I should do this. I decided to change this because I thought it would be more personal if the students imagined they were a soldier. I thought about giving the students the option of both but I felt that it would be to much on the students. I worked out the kinks on the final and I am very happy with how it turned out.

Part III: Evaluation

During my evaluation creation process, I referenced my unit plan. I was able to show how I wanted to my evaluation process and my thoughts on evaluating students. I first created my method of evaluation strategies list. This way I would see how exactly I was planing on evaluating my students before I began writing my philosophy of evaluation. Below you will find my rough list of evaluating strategies and my final philosophy of evaluation/methods of evaluation.

Part IV: Works Cited and Reflective Addendum

I created my works cited page as I progressed through the unit. Every time I referenced someone in a lesson plan I added it to my working reference page. I wrote my reflective addendum at the very end of my unit plan. I started with an outline and built the letter from there.
